Back to Middle-earth and Madness: Why I’m Returning to Lord of the Rings LCG and Arkham Horror LCG
Over the past year, Marvel Champions has been the backbone of my card gaming life, and for good reason. It's fast, thematic and endlessly fun. But as much as I love the Marvel universe and the tight design of that game, I've started to feel the itch to revisit some of the other greats. Not just for my own enjoyment but also for the sake of growing this channel in new directions.
So I'm diving back into Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and Arkham Horror: The Card Game.
Why Lord of the Rings LCG Still Calls to Me
I’ve missed the world of Middle-earth. LOTR LCG has one of the strongest themes in any card game I've played. The scenarios are varied and challenging, often forcing you to think three turns ahead or risk being crushed by the encounter deck. The deck building is deep, strategic and incredibly satisfying once you understand the nuances.
The action window system felt strange at first, but now I appreciate how much control it gives players who want to fine-tune their timing. It’s a game that rewards mastery, and I miss that level of engagement.
Why Arkham Horror LCG Is Still a Masterpiece
Then there’s Arkham Horror, a completely different beast. While LOTR throws you into battle from the start, Arkham pulls you into a slow, creeping narrative that unfolds with each decision. The storytelling here is second to none. Some of the earlier campaigns like Dunwich and Path to Carcosa still haunt me (in the best way).
The deck building sits nicely between Marvel and LOTR in terms of complexity, which makes it accessible but still meaningful. It’s a slower game, no doubt, but sometimes that deliberate pace is exactly what makes the tension hit harder.
The Bigger Picture
Part of this return is personal. I genuinely miss these games. But it’s also about connecting with communities I’ve unintentionally overlooked. LOTR and Arkham both have strong, active audiences that deserve more attention. Expanding this channel to serve those fans is a step forward for content variety and long-term growth.
If you're a fan of these games or have been curious to try them, now's the time to join the journey. Expect more videos, playthroughs and maybe even some deck-building deep dives coming soon.
